How to turn off Discord halloween sound

Tired of that spooky Halloween ringtone blaring through your headphones every time someone calls you on Discord? Seasonal event audio can be fun for a day or two, but when you’re trying to study, stream, or hang out in a voice channel without unexpected jumpscares, the holiday sound effects get old fast.

How to turn off discord halloween sound

Discord frequently pushes custom seasonal soundpacks for events like Halloween and April Fools’. These overrides swap out default ringtones, join/leave chimes, and user interface clicks with themed alternatives. Fortunately, toggling them off takes less than a minute.

Method 1: Change Your Sound Pack (Desktop & Web)

The most direct way to get rid of holiday audio triggers is to manually set your audio theme back to the standard profile.

  1. Open Discord and click the Gear Icon (User Settings) in the bottom-left corner next to your username.
  2. Scroll down the left sidebar to App Settings and select Notifications.
  3. Scroll down until you see the Sound Pack (or Sounds) section.
  4. Locate the dropdown menu for current sound themes and select Classic or Default instead of the seasonal option.

Once selected, all incoming calls, message alerts, and channel movement chimes immediately revert to normal.

Method 2: Disable Special Event Audio & Reaction SFX

If the Halloween sounds are tied to voice channel interactions or soundboard triggers rather than your main ringtone, you can manage them separately.

  1. Head back into User Settings (Gear icon).
  2. Click on Voice & Video under App Settings.
  3. Scroll down to the Soundboard options.
  4. Turn off Allow Soundboard Sounds or adjust the slider down if server members are spamming holiday sound clips.
  5. Under Notifications, locate Enable Event Sounds or Seasonal Audio Effects and toggle the switch to Off.

Method 3: Mobile App Settings (iOS & Android)

If the Halloween ringtone is ringing through your phone:

  1. Tap your Profile Picture in the bottom-right corner of the app.
  2. Tap the Gear Icon in the top right to enter Settings.
  3. Scroll down to Notifications or App Settings.
  4. Tap System Notifications or In-App Sounds.
  5. Toggle off Seasonal Soundpacks or select Default Sound Profile.

Still Hearing Holiday Sounds?

If you switched your sound pack back to default and still hear event audio, try a quick hard-refresh on the desktop app by pressing Ctrl + R (Windows) or Cmd + R (Mac). This clears your local client cache and forces Discord to load your updated sound profile preferences.
