A chainsaw with a deflector shield sounds like a terrible engineering decision. In Mycopunk, it might actually work. This co-op looter shooter from Pigeons at Play sends a squad of misfit robots into a planet-wide fungal disaster, where the job is to exterminate alien growth and figure out what really happened. With four playable characters and an upgrade system built around mixing and stacking weapon mods, there’s plenty of room for questionable experiments.
The official Mycopunk Discord is linked directly through the developer’s own channels. It’s a place to compare builds, discuss mission runs, report problems, and share ideas with the team. The developers have specifically invited community feedback on new weapons and upgrade balance, so discussions can go beyond simply celebrating a successful run.
The upgrade grid is where things get interesting. Mods can completely change how weapons and equipment behave, allowing players to build toward healing support, heavy damage, or stranger combinations that may or may not survive contact with a fungal horde. Enemies can also pick up dropped items, so clearing a room doesn’t always mean the danger is over. Comparing loadouts and working out how different characters complement one another gives squads something useful to bring into their next mission.
Between expeditions, the orbital dropship offers a place to hang out with friends, play minigames, and chat with Roachard Cox, the team’s insectoid SAXON veteran. Mycopunk has now moved beyond its original Early Access launch, and its community remains a useful place to follow news from Pigeons at Play. Whether you’re testing an absurd weapon build or trying to understand the game’s fungal catastrophe, there’s more to discuss than the number of enemies you’ve exterminated.
