We’re a 5-person startup indie studio based in Melbourne, Australia, called Mass Transfer Interactive, and we’re working on Hexaquest! It’s a ‘dice-builder RPG’ where you play as Hex, a magical die who has been discarded by the Gods of the Tabletop.
Each of your six faces host spells which are cast with every step you take. The basic gameplay involves exploring the game’s vast world, using your spells to navigate obstacles, and discovering more spells to help you in your journey. As you progress through puzzles, combat encounters, and boss battles against hostile game pieces, you will be able to further upgrade the faces of your die to host more powerful spells and spell combinations. There will also be optional ‘challenge rooms’ scattered throughout the world where you’re given a set loadout or inventory of spells and you have to find the most efficient solutions, similar to the mini-demos we’re posting now.
The game takes place in ‘The Playing Space’, the world surrounding the Tabletop, where each major region is dominated by different factions of game pieces in constant conflict, fighting for the affections of the Gods. Here, you will travel from dusty forgotten corners to sacred fields of felt, seeking your path back to the Tabletop. Along the way, you’ll make new enemies and allies among an eccentric cast of board game pieces, whose fates will ultimately be yours to decide…
