In 2036, individuals who harbour superhuman & supernatural abilities have been looked down upon & condemned as menaces to society. Seen as neurochemically unstable hazards to twenty-first century society, these individuals – the ‘Empowered’ – once seen as the future of mankind & loved vigilante heroes – have been locked up, tossed away and forgotten to numerous ‘Containment Zones’ across the world, built & ran by a totalitarian, UN-backed organization known as the Sectorate Protectorate Program, or SPP.
One of these containment zones, dubbed ‘The Yukon Containment Zone’, is overseen by Sector 1, the first division to the SPP and one of its most financially and economically funded sectors. The Yukon Containment Zone harbours millions of unique Empowered within a superpowered cyberpunk dystopia, and any attempts of escape are hopeless by the psychic anomaly that surrounds this near century-old cyber-city. This anomaly is a seemingly never-ending forest, one rampant with folk myths, eldritch abominations, and untold unknown horrors dwelling within, disturbed by the presence of humanity and its ever-evolving technology. Here, you must learn to survive and adapt to this corrupt and malicious world, or be left in the dirt like many before you, another soul lost amidst the sea of corporate exploitation, militant occupation and the lost dreams of golden-age heroism.
World of Vigilantes is a six-year-old sandbox cyberpunk-fantasy roleplay that emphasizes well-done characters and their stories. Explore a grimy, cursed world within the Yukon Containment Zone where mega-corporations dominate over the working class, crime is rampant and the average man is manipulated.
