In early January 2025, two new beta versions (V1.07a beta and V1.07 beta) of the open-source project Discord Messenger for Windows were released with support for Windows 95 and Windows 98. The solution’s source code is written in C++ and published on GitHub under the MIT license.

The application supports messaging, image and file sharing, as well as displaying a typing indicator, a channel user list, and other basic features. The client can also run in widescreen mode. In the future, the project team plans to add support for a friends list, dark mode, voice channel joining, mute functionality for channels, the ability to change displayed names and user statuses, and other features that are currently missing.

Discord Messenger is a messaging application developed for communication via the Discord platform. Previously, the solution was only backward compatible with Windows 2000 and Windows XP SP2. Now, the developers are testing the application’s functionality on Windows 95 and Windows 98.
