There is a good reason Aniimo feels different from a typical creature-collecting RPG. Catching a creature is only the beginning. In this free-to-play open-world RPG from Pawprint Studio, the entire continent of Idyll is built around discovering Aniimo, learning what they can do, and finding new ways to use them. Their appearances can depend on the environment, weather, phenomena and time of day, so simply knowing where to look is not always enough.
Then there is Twine, one of the game’s defining mechanics. Instead of keeping an Aniimo as something that merely fights beside you, you can become the creature itself and use its abilities to interact with the world. Gliding, diving, burrowing, solving puzzles and overcoming obstacles can all become part of exploration depending on which Aniimo you have available. Most Aniimo can also evolve, giving players another reason to keep searching after they have already built up a collection.
The world is designed to make those discoveries matter. Idyll is an open environment where players can travel through different areas, encounter creatures under different conditions, and eventually reach a floating metropolis. There is plenty to do alone, but Aniimo also supports online co-op and PvP. One particularly unusual activity is Egg Heist, a PvE/PvP mode where three-player teams compete in real-time searches and battles across the Lost Isles.
And that brings us to the official Aniimo Discord server. This isn’t a fan-made server trying to recreate the game’s community somewhere else. The community is directly tied to the game and its ongoing development.
For players, that gives the server plenty of reasons to stick around. Aniimo is also still a developing game, so the community has an important role beyond simply chatting between adventures. Steam currently lists it as a live free-to-play title with single-player, online co-op, online PvP and cross-platform multiplayer, while the official game community continues to post updates and server news.
