At first glance, Looks Fine on Paper resembles a simple architectural drawing exercise. It isn’t. This Steam logic puzzle asks you to reconstruct a building’s floor plan from clues, without giving you ready-made room shapes to work with. You start with an empty blueprint and have to figure out the dimensions, positions, and outlines yourself.
The catch is that individual rooms don’t exist independently. A bedroom might need to share a wall with another room, a door must fit a particular location, and furniture has to obey its own placement rules. Even a seemingly harmless adjustment can invalidate several other conditions. There’s no shortcut around thinking through the whole plan.
The official Looks Fine on Paper Discord server is a good place to put particularly stubborn puzzles up for discussion. Sometimes another player spots a spatial relationship you’ve overlooked; sometimes two seemingly valid layouts turn out to have very different consequences. Comparing approaches is especially interesting in a game where the challenge isn’t just finding an arrangement that works, but understanding why it works.
The free demo provides an introduction to the puzzle system, including tutorial sections. Once the basic rules become familiar, the more complicated blueprints demand a different kind of thinking: not trial and error for its own sake, but careful deduction about how every room, opening, and piece of furniture fits into the larger picture.
