The University of California, Riverside (UCR) Formula SAE (FSAE) team is a dedicated group of students focused on designing, building, and testing a high-performance racecar for the FSAE competition. Our team brings together talents from various disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, and computer engineering, as well as business and marketing.

Within the team, members specialize in different areas. The design team works on aerodynamics, chassis, and vehicle dynamics to optimize performance. The manufacturing team fabricates components and assembles the racecar, providing hands-on experience in machining and manufacturing processes. Meanwhile, the electronics team handles the car’s electrical systems, including data acquisition and telemetry, while the testing group conducts track tests and analyzes data to improve vehicle performance. Additionally, our marketing and management team focuses on securing sponsorships and managing team logistics.

Each year, the UCR FSAE team competes in various events, including acceleration, skidpad, autocross, and endurance. These competitions challenge us to showcase our innovations and adaptability, testing different aspects of the vehicle.

For prospective members, it’s essential to understand that joining the team requires a significant commitment of time and effort, especially as competitions approach. Hands-on work and collaborative problem-solving are integral to the experience. Regardless of your skill level, the team provides mentorship and training, fostering an environment that encourages growth and learning. Our team culture is collaborative and supportive, promoting camaraderie among members.
